Best Glue for Making Hair Bows

My favorite glue for making hair bows is definitely the high heat/high temp glue gun and glue sticks.  They are available at craft stores as well as many “dollar” stores.  It should cost you just a few dollars and the glue stick refills are inexpensive as well.  Using a hot glue gun needs some precautions since it of course gets very hot and you don’t want the hot glue to burn your fingers.  Please use caution if allowing children to help you make bows as well.  There are a number of craft glues on the market but I have yet to find one that doesn’t smell horrible or take forever to dry.  When making hair bows you want to be sure that the glue dries quickly so it will hold your bow layers in place.  Besides that you want to make sure your bow will stay together and last for a very long time.  High temp glue guns are definitely the way to go and get my vote for the best glue for making hair bows.

Quick tip:  If you get hot glue on a piece of ribbon where it shouldn’t be, just place it in the freezer and allow the cold to harden up the glue.  Then you should be able to peel it off without damaging the ribbon at all.  Hope this little tidbit helps you as you are learning how to make hair bows.

Thanks for the tips here, yet again. I used hot glue, since that is how your course instructed me to do so…and it is so much easier.

Only problem for me, is I manage to get strings of glue everywhere! LOL But they come off easily once I realize they are all over me and the house.

Thanks again for yet another valuable tip1

Yes that is the only problem with the hot glue is taking the time to de-string after!! :)
