When reading about making hair bows, you’ve probably heard boutique bows or stacked hair bows mentioned.  These are beautifully layered bows that typically have spikes or sprays as well as loops and at least one beautiful bow on them.  As you can see from the photo below, there are a number of types of ribbon used (mostly all grosgrain but different widths and patterns) plus a variety of colors or at least various shades of one color.  While beginners can attempt this type of bow, I’d suggest that you learn how to make beginner bows first and then move on to the more detailed boutique hair bows.

Boutique Hair Bows

The above photo shows a layered boutique bow. When you think about these type of bows, you probably think of beautiful and expensive boutiques. Well that is right on track since that is typically where you can purchase bows like this. However, the hair accessories at boutiques are usually expensive. Don’t worry though because you can easily make these bows with some practice as well as basic knowledge of the three main components of these: sprays/spikes, loops, bows. Combining these three components of making hair bows by sewing them together or gluing them in place you can achieve a beautiful bow. You can even add embellishments to make a gorgeous and very unique hairbow. I’m sure you have seen these in stores with all kinds of colors, ribbon varieties, and buttons or other beautiful bling on them. You can make those just as pretty! Making Boutique Hair Bows

This Youtube video shows you exactly how to make a twisted boutique bow that you can use as a main bow for so many of your designs: Twisted Boutique Bow Tutorial Video – see how easy it is!  I purchased the supplies for that bow at this craft store.  You can use any craft store for your supplies, just be sure to use a coupon or check the dollar bin.  You can even find great ribbon for boutique hair bows in the clearance aisle.  I like to stock up on ribbons I like that will coordinate with each other so I will have plenty of grosgrain ribbons available for when I want to create a new bow.  You never know when you’ll want to make a beautiful boutique hair bow since they are great for almost any outfit and every holiday or celebration.
