How to Make Hair Bows for Little Girls

First, make sure that you have the following items to make hair bows for little girls:

  • Ribbon (3/8” is a good size for small and medium bows. For larger bows 1½” to 2” ribbon is good)
  • Hair clips
  • Hot glue
  • Wire used for beading
  • Match or Lighter
  • Scissors

Steps to make hair bows for little girls:

1: make loops using a single length of ribbon.

2: ensure that you twist after making each loop so that the pattern faces out if using patterned ribbon.

3: four loops are required to be made

4: use a small length of wire for securing the bow and twist it in the back.

As we are making a double hair bow for little girls, put the second bow on top of the first one and twist the wires together to secure firmly. Cut whatever extra wires remain. As a handy tip, to prevent the ends of ribbon from fraying make use of lighter or matches. Some people use clear nail polish. This can be done while looping or after the hair bow is made.

When using a bow with a clip one should fully cover the clip with a ribbon. Take enough length of ribbon and paste it on the clip using hot glue. Glue the ribbon all along the top and its inside only. Apply glue at the center of the clip and paste the hair bow on top. Take a small length of ribbon and glue it to the center of the hair bow. Then, wrap that small length of ribbon and paste it to the inside of the clip, thus ensuring that the bow stays in place.
