Don’t you just LOVE stacked hair bows? These are also called layered bows because it is a layers of different bows, spikes, and loops piled on top of one another to make the completed bow. How many layers can you add to your stacked hair bow? As many as you’d like! I’ve seen REALLY big bows with tons of different loops and sprays with a large base bow. It’s a great thing to be able to make your own bows because you can decide how much you want to add to really make your hair accessory look perfect.
Stacked Hair Bows
These bows are typically worn by girls ages 3 and older because they are a bit heavy due to all the layers of ribbon on them. You can certainly have girls younger than this wear stacked bows, but just be aware that they might fall out if they don’t have enough hair yet to hold a large bow in place. Alternatively, you can make a bow like this for a girl younger than 3 years old and just add a few layers when you stack your bow. The benefit of making your own bows is that you are able to determine how much ribbon you want to use and the size of each layer. Start with three layers and add more as you feel necessary. You want to have at least one layer (typically the bottom) which will be your sprays and then on top of that you can add a bow like the large green hairbow in the photo. Then finally you can add some a flower loop bow in the center and finish with a button embellishment. That is exactly how I made the stacked hair bow shown here.
